Inclusive cities
In Inclusive cities, the two main themes of the project are:
- Active ageing and the prevention of passive elderly
- How to motivate? Working with socially excluded and disabled people
Two workshops were arranged in April 2018 and September 2018 in Gdansk and Elblag, Poland. The main organizer was Association of Polish Communes of Euroregion Baltic.
In total, 82 persons participated from various organizations in Poland, Denmark and Sweden. Study visits were arranged to UTWION – University of the 3rd age and disabled people, ESWIP – The Elblag association for supporting non-government initiatives, ERKON – Elblag consultative council for the disabled, among others.
In the thematic area of inclusive growth the participants discussed challenges related to sustainable urban development, care for the elderly and age-friendly cities. During the workshop, practical solutions adopted in the polish municipalities were presented, focusing on soft elements applied in different target groups like practical activation and inclusion in social, cultural and political life.
During the workshops, stakeholders also had the opportunity to discuss future project ideas, as well as exchanging experiences, needs and expectations in terms of social inclusion and elderly care. The purpose of the workshops was to get a stronger value chain and strengthen ability of international cooperation in those areas in in South Baltic region.
Dates of the conferences:
The first workshop in Inclusive Cities was arranged in Gdynia, Poland 24-26 April 2018.
The second workshop in Inclusive Cities was arranged in
Elbląg, Poland 24-26 September 2018.
Target group
EU coordinators, officials and politicians involved in development processes / projects, officials and politicians working with sustainable, innovative and inclusive citites from the municipalities in Northeastern Skåne (Sweden), Køge (Denmark), Naestved (Denmark) and municipalities associated with the Association of Polish Communes of Euroregion Baltic (Poland).
