Activities
Why not treat yourself to the "feel-good factor" with a package holiday at a health farm or in a traditional spa setting- a truly unique experience for both body and soul.
Hovdala Naturområde
Hovdala has a rich and fascinating variety of panoramic views, dark forests, hilltops and valleys. A unique combination of past and future, scenery and adventure. Do come and visit.
Follow the Finjasjöleden Trail and enjoy the broad-leafed deciduous forest, valleys with running streams and fine alder forests; make a detour upstream along the winding river Hovdala å and just maybe you will see the very rare and threatened freshwater pearl mussel, a brightly coloured kingfisher or a dipper. The architect-designed bird-watching tower "Slingra dig" in Mölleröd provides a beautiful barbecue site as well as an outdoor museum presenting history, natural habitats, birds and plants.
South of Hovdala Castle the trails called Caspers slinga and Hammarmölledammslingan take you around a forest lake in an exciting beech landscape with waterfalls and ravines.
On the Hovdala Bridle Trail you are welcome to ride or drive your horse on fine forest tracks in the midst of the Hovdala nature reserve. Here you can gallop along perfect bridle paths, enjoy the surroundings in peace and quiet and take a break by the lake.
The Hovdala Dog Trail is an activity trail with instructive signs allowing you and your dog to train together according to the natural features offered by the location.
The Hovdala Tree House is Scandinavia’s largest for year-round use and was opened on September 1, 2006. A large number of people have since then experienced this very unusual place for conferences up among the treetops.
Open as a café during the summer.
If you are about at night in Hovdala Fields you have a good chance of encountering one of the many species of bat that live there. An inventory has shown that there are 16 different species out there of a total of 19 in Sweden. An impressive figure!
During the summer you can visit Wendel’s Cottage at Broslätt. Enjoy the peace and quiet in the garden and listen to interesting tales of people who used to live in the craft village. See what life was like in former times. In the cottage you can have a coffee and learn more about the making of linen, about weaving and candle-making.
